It's fine. You haven't been here very long yet Yasusada-kun, and this will probably help out in some way or another. [LIKE HE THOUGHT PRIOR... he's making an investment on food in a way, considering how Yamato probably intends to use this. In any case though, the air is fresh and nice outside, so the sensible thing to do is obviously bring out the pack of cigarettes that he'd Narrowly saved from Yamato's clutches earlier. He talks while he digs though it.]
I was going to go suggest that we get what was requested of us, but it would probably be best to wait until you have your balance in those shoes. [With that, he holds out the smoke he'd earlier confiscated.] You were curious about them, right? Don't break it. Ah, but anyway, for now maybe we can just pass the time. I've heard there's a place with sweets nearby here.

Yeah, that's right! I'm not too fond of what we were asked for, but it shouldn't be hard to get something suitable like this, with your methods. If it turns out too difficult, I can sing, too. [Kou helped him improve a lot, after all! He seems happy to ignore the note on paying him back though, because if Yamato wants to do that then there's no problems on Horikawa's end. The next thing that grabs his notice is the comment on flesh, and there's a look of amusement on his features that's almost apologetic in all honesty. Hopefully Yamato won't have to worry about that for a long time, but for the time being:]
It's run by humans, so I don't think they have any interest in selling things like that. You probably don't need to worry about those kinds of things unless you go to a soup kitchen, because that's the only place I've heard of that does something like that. [Yes... Soup. Human soup. In any case, he motions for Yamato to hold the cigarette between his lips.] I'll light it for you, and then you breathe in. It's not hard!

I managed to find something I can use, but it was pretty troublesome. Hopefully, this works. [It would be such a pain (and probably leave a moral stain of some sort) if they were to go to all the trouble of collecting their human body pieces, toss them in the lake and whatever else is needed of them, and then find that it was all for naught. Honestly, to be honest, Horikawa's still a little bit salty about his method in general, but the value of his vessel returned to him far outweighs any reluctance he may have to get it by water.]
Hm? No, that would be pretty useless for me, Yasusada-kun. For someone like Tsurumaru-san or Mikazuki-san, it would probably be better. [He doesn't have to eat meat, so he doesn't plan on it. His method of feeding is already bad enough without adding the need for flesh, thanks. As for the question, he smiles, shaking his head.] No, it's supposed to be like that.

[There's a pause as he read that message. Not because of the first part, that's simple and obvious to him. He would want to help out his brother.
But the second part...]
of course
i want to help out around the house and i want to help brother
and lessen the workload
but the fourth god?
do you really believe that?

everything i rmeeber about hijikata from class is that hes really stern and strict
so i was worried about you
if you dont want to hang out its fine
but id like tos pend some time with you if youre not busy

That would be nice, huh! [Not that he doubts it, but he agrees! As far as he remembers Yamato telling him, it isn't as though they'll need to wait for a long time to find out either, since it seems like something they can perform together. (Tonight, with any luck.) Though he does look slightly shocked by Yamato's other suggestion.]
Not quite, Yasusada-kun. Everybody has something different than they need, but... I would probably trade what I have to do for something like that if I could. [Makes things a lot less difficult in regards to how he can pick his victims, and maybe he could wind up picking off only criminals the way the other Shinsengumi do. As it is he tries his best, but in desperate times if he worries for his hunger, there's not much room to be so choosy. His gaze flickers away for a moment, but he tilts his head, looking expectantly to Yamato's cigarette.] Well?

It really is! Maybe we can go out again some time, though we shouldn't spend any more money if we do.
[Gotta be responsible with their finances, after all. When Yamato places the smoke between his lips though, Horikawa nods with a smile to reassure the double check there. Before he lights it though, he thinks to quickly just remind Yamato how this is done, in case he wasn't watching Horikawa so closely earlier. Imitating as though he's holding one too, he tries to show Yamato how to hold it between his fingers, with a rushed explanation before he pulls his lighter out of his pocket, flipping the cap and holding it over the tip of Yamato's cigarette until it's lit. With that, he leaves it alone, leaning back a bit.]
Okay, it's good.

[The expression on Horikawa's features as he tilts his head expectantly at Yamato betrays his amusement, finding the question to be pretty endearing for the most part. (He's pretty sure he explained how to do this, but he doesn't mind doing so again.) Reaching over, he plucks the cigarette back away with a mock sigh.]
Really, Yasusada-kun, it's not that hard! Here, like this. [As if to demonstrate he puts it to his own lips, taking a deep breath in, and when he pulls it away again the smoke he exhales comes in a big puff. With an expectant look back to Yamato, he places the cigarette back between his fingers again.] If that's the case though, I'll be sure to look for those kinds of things. It feels nice to be able to relax once in a while.

[No, you're pretty much one of my primary concerns, just not for the reasons you think...]
well...
how about tea then?
have you eaten arleady?
im finished working for the day already so i have a lot of free time
theres a place on [insert street name here] that i like to go to so we can head there if you want

[There's a look of plain worry on his face as Yamato coughs, his own hand being used to wipe away the tear from his eyes. He lets the moment pass, then squeezes Yamato's hand in return as he speaks up.] Are you okay?
[After the fit passes, he makes sure to rub Yamato's cheek a little, sympathetic smile on his features. There's a hint of an unspoken apology in the way his brows are drawn together, but to be honest, it's not something so serious to be concerned about, and nothing that needs noting. This is, after all, a natural reaction for a first-timer to have, so Horikawa does his best to be reassuring instead of sorry.]
It's fine, Yasusada-kun. It's normal the first time, but you'll get used to it.

That might be it. I think it's just a matter of getting used to it, so.
[He entirely misses the flyer though, predictably. Rather than that, he takes another look tot he cigarette in Yamato's hand, hearing out his request and momentarily taking it into his own. There's a smile flashed before he sets it back between his lips, taking a long drag to try to 'smoke it down' a significant amount to make things a bit easier for Yamato, and a subsequent sigh of breath follows. He hands it back momentarily.]
Is that enough? Don't try to finish it all at once.
[That'd be a lil weird, ngl.]
