[After which there's a thoughtful hum to that suggestion, but he doesn't mind it so much. (In the end, Yamato will always be the final word anyway, so it's fine with him to pick something.) Bringing up a skirt from the pile, and holding it out in front of himself for a moment, decides that it would probably be more flattering for Yamato, and perhaps more comfortable too in its simplicity.]
Is this one alright with you?
no subject
This is a nice choice. [ Though, something comes to Yamato as he feels like he should speak with Horikawa about it. He's not worried but only confused. ] I know better that none of this is free but I don't have a stable job at the moment though I'd like to thank you for window shopping with me.
[ Just seeing what looks nice on Yamato and what doesn't, of course Yamato thought the other was playing around about wearing this around the area. ] I guess I'll try this on before putting everything back. [ Who is even going to pay for all of this? ]
no subject
[He shakes his head, come on!! If nothing else, above all else, he wants to look after his comrades: the Shinsengumi are first on that list. It seems a little mean if he were to bring Yamato out to look at all the nice things that they couldn't have, right? For Horikawa, his money isn't much, but it's something. It's enough to afford a little bit for Yamato.]
I can probably buy you an outfit or two. It's no trouble since having these is important, right? [It's an investment to their future food source, to be honest, and though Horikawa isn't sure how he feels about the method itself, he certainly feels better about the household eating off the lowlifes he catches than Horikawa's own methods. So with that, he smiles.] Just say which are your favourites!
no subject
Please don't spend so much of your hard earnings on me, you worked and did all that for yourself.
[ Turning back around so that he can face towards the changing room again, he looks down at his socks. ] Oh, hm, do you have any other socks that goes with this skirt that I should wear or do the ones I have now will be pleasant enough? [ Turning around so that he can place the skirt against the one he's already wearing to give Horikawa a visage and an idea. ] Hm?
no subject
As for the socks... Hmm, I think those ones are really flattering? [He's so casual about critiquing how his comrade's legs look that maybe it's no wonder this got mistaken for a date. Either way, he grins brightly after the comment.] So long as you think they're warm enough, they seem nice Yasusada-kun!
no subject
Pushing the door back up and coming out with the final choice that he believes he can wear, he still has the obvious wooden sandals and the haori draped on his shoulders like normal. ]
This is the winner for the day, isn't it? [ Setting down both the articles of clothes on the chair where Horikawa is sitting and then fanning some of the smoke away. ] This should be fine? [ A pause.. ] Are you allowed to smoke in here, is that safe? [ Since clothes can catch on fire. ]
no subject
...]
We'll pick up one more thing on the way, if that's alright. [If they're gonna do this, they should do it properly? Though, first things first:] Ah, come here for a second, Yasusada-kun. [Because if he does, Hori will start trying to gently sort out his hair and feathers for them ー they look like they got everywhere during the changing, but it shouldn't take much for him to get them neat again.]
no subject
What's the last item on the list? [ Slipping his hands into his haori as he motions over once called for, closes his eyes the moment hands start messing wih his hair. It doesn't hurt and that's because it's done with gentle care but every so often the uchigatana opens his eyes to get a peek of the expression on Horikawa's features as he fixes up Yamato's hair. ] Ah, you didn't have to do that.. I didn't even notice. [ His head is bent down so there's easier access in doing what Horikawa must, the action is quite something but he doesn't dare say a thing. ]
no subject
It wouldn't make sense to get you modern clothes without getting you shoes to match. It's best to do these things properly, so!
no subject
[ They're about to leave so it should be fine. But as for the shoes, he tilts his head. ] But what I have matches, doesn't it? As long as I can walk from point a to point b, it's good?
no subject
[Or really at all, considering how he feels about Kanesada's way of doing things, but Yamato has the good luck of being able to maintain good appearances very passively, so there's no point in a more general scolding. The point is that for now, this really is something that requires good looks!]
It will only take a moment! [And a bit more thoughtfully:] Heels like Kiyomitsu-kun has might not be practical for you, because you still need to be able to fight, but I'm sure there's something good to wear here.
no subject
What type of shoes, I mean, I've always worn these wooden sandals. [ He probably doesn't even want to part with them, but he is curious as to what type of footwear this would entail. ]
Unless, I'm getting the same kind. Shouldn't we pay for this first before we look into shoes? You have to have money left over for yourself as well.
no subject
[He notes Yamato's curiosity with a tilt of his head, but doesn't interrupt him as he looks through the pack. Rather than that,]
Would you like to try? Maybe when we get outside, since there's a little more to do in here. We should get shoes that are from this time to match your clothes, and as long as we pay attention to the prices, we won't spend too much.
[It would have been nice to be able to pick out a high fashion boutique or something, but as it is this places is pretty average, and it's mostly a matter of picking out what can be best and make the most flattering look for Yamato out of this kind of selection. Considering how much blood may get on them, it would probably be unwise to get expensive clothing anyway. Sorry, Yamato! Though, Horikawa starts his way over to the shoes at the front of the store after he's mentioned what he has.]
no subject
Well..
[ Yamato is just going to stay in place, not like he won't place his attention elsewhere and it's to the cigarettes in his hand. Picking one up from the pack, he starts to break one in half so he can look at the substance that's inside of it. It reminds him of the stuff that are pushed into pipes but maybe this white part is a much softer version of the pipe. He isn't so crazy about gaining any type of shoes since he guesses what he has would be enough.
It's already something that he has to wear some short skirt! Sitting down where Horikawa has been, he pulls at the end of the skirt and closes his legs respectively so that he doesn't seem rude. ] Hm.. [ And another cigarette bites the dusts, he's actually looking into them with his good harpy vision that he can turn on and off. ]
no subject
Here, I think these should fit yー Yasusada-kun?? [HEY NOW, what's going on here.] Ah... please pass me the ones that are left.
[He needs them to be safe and sound in his pocket]
no subject
Hm? [ Handing him the pack back while holding one he's yet to break just yet. ] They look nice, Horikawa Kunihiro, but they don't look as though they would fit me. [ He hasn't even tried them on, leaning forward in order to set the shoes on the floor next to his own wooden sandals.
Personally, we all know which Yamato is looking at. ]
no subject
[Horikawa comes out to do him a favour and here he is, breaking smokes in half and naysaying him all the while. His face looks a bit apologetic, but he does think it's for the best. Though, on second thought, before Yamato's latest victim cigarette can get snapped he pulls that out of the other's hand too.]
When we get outside this one can be yours, but first, you need shoes from here!
no subject
Alright, alright.
[ Of course, he sighs softly as he leans over to undo the clasps on the shoes that were chosen for him. It doesn't take that long for him to slip his foot into one of them and making sure the part around his ankle isn't too tight before he does the same with the other. Luckily for Horikawa, they are a good fit and maybe Yamato should have not judged too harshly but he didn't want to go this far for hunting.
Stretching out one of his legs to expose the stockings and the shoes that he's wearing, he wiggles his toes just a bit to make sure that he has room. ]
How about now?
no subject
Overall... a good pick! He breaks out into a grin.]
It looks good, Yasusada-kun! They're not uncomfortable, are they? Because if not, we should be able to move on now.
no subject
[ Slowly getting to his feet and one can see how he has second thoughts, have to put all his weight into the shoes chosen and how he fixes the hem of the skirt that he wears. ] It's a new feeling to me, though. It's nothing like my wooden sandals but nothing I shouldn't be able to break into.
[ The clicking noise of a camera that's snapped their way at the exact moment when Yamato takes his first step — almost slipping and into Horikawa's arms he goes. ] I'll break into them. [ His small stumble. ]
no subject
The look on his face is a little more sheepish than anything as he peers down, face surprisingly close to Yamato's.]
Harder than you expected? [It's kind of endearing, really.] You will. If you need any help with your balance, that's fine too.
[If he needs help that is. Holding hands for balance, that's totally normal, right? Just in case!]
no subject
[ With his balance back on his footing, he looks towards the other in hopes to know what idea he has when it comes to figuring what they can do. Yamato has never had to wear flats and have so much trouble but it's the shape it sets his feet within the shoe and it's awkward. Perhaps it's his legs that are too nervous to cooperate with him, never has a samurai had shaky legs but.. ]
What do you think you can do to help me balance?
no subject
[The grin he returns is a bit apologetic, mostly for picking out something that would make his comrade so embarrassingly stumble, but there's nothing add about the proximity so far as he's concerned. As long as Yamato's managed to right himself, it's mostly just a good thing that he didn't topple into a shelf ー something that, knowing his track record, wasn't entirely off the table at the time. Still, across the slight distance that's been created, he offers up a hand to accompany his suggestion.]
Maybe if you had something to steady yourself on, like if we linked arms, or held hands.
no subject
[ It is, in fact, a question and also a choice he wouldn't have thought to take advantage of. First of all, it sounds silly that Yamato would need to link arms or hold hands just so that his balance wouldn't have him crashing down to the floor. He'd give a dismissive wave and state that he can do fine without, but as he takes another step and the way he teeters just a bit before standing in a certain way with legs crossed as he stares down at the ground. He can't just look at the floor the entire time he's out so with an outstretched hand and entwining his fingers with the others — he moves a little closer. ]
Then that — what you propose, doesn't sound bad at all.
[ Of course, he does continue to stare down as he tries to get himself together. ]
no subject
Then, I'll do my best to make sure you won't fall, Yasusada-kun! Feel free to use me to balance.
[And, a nod in the direction of the cashier they're taking slow steps towards.]
We should pay, and get a bag for your other clothes, don't you think?
