I'll look into it. .. Huh? People still wear shoes like this even now. [ Listen Mr. Horikawa just because you wear like shoe shoes. ] And I feel more balanced like this? [ But is the other listening? Probably not. ]
Well..
[ Yamato is just going to stay in place, not like he won't place his attention elsewhere and it's to the cigarettes in his hand. Picking one up from the pack, he starts to break one in half so he can look at the substance that's inside of it. It reminds him of the stuff that are pushed into pipes but maybe this white part is a much softer version of the pipe. He isn't so crazy about gaining any type of shoes since he guesses what he has would be enough.
It's already something that he has to wear some short skirt! Sitting down where Horikawa has been, he pulls at the end of the skirt and closes his legs respectively so that he doesn't seem rude. ] Hm.. [ And another cigarette bites the dusts, he's actually looking into them with his good harpy vision that he can turn on and off. ]
[But is he listening? No, he's not. Sorry Yamato, those words were a little bit distant and taken to be musings just to himself as Horikawa trotted off. Upon seeing that the other doesn't seem to intend to follow though, Horikawa decides to let him have his freedom with the box of cigarettes (a mistake), and come back with the shoes for him! In the end, he picks out a pair that he thinks makes a cute complement, and returns totally oblivious to the destruction wreaked upon his smokes.]
Here, I think these should fit yー Yasusada-kun?? [HEY NOW, what's going on here.] Ah... please pass me the ones that are left.
[He needs them to be safe and sound in his pocket]
[ It's after he grabs another cigarette that he goes to breaking it but is stopped once Horikawa makes his way over with some rather adorable shoes, but Yamato stares at what's chosen. They seem subtle to him, nothing that draws a whole lot of attention and the color is tranquil, easy on the eyes. Nothing too gaudy but it's not like Yamato knows anything about that, to him they're just another pair of shoes but his own wooden ones were better? ]
Hm? [ Handing him the pack back while holding one he's yet to break just yet. ] They look nice, Horikawa Kunihiro, but they don't look as though they would fit me. [ He hasn't even tried them on, leaning forward in order to set the shoes on the floor next to his own wooden sandals.
Personally, we all know which Yamato is looking at. ]
That's why you have to try them on. If it's bad, we can just find a set that does.
[Horikawa comes out to do him a favour and here he is, breaking smokes in half and naysaying him all the while. His face looks a bit apologetic, but he does think it's for the best. Though, on second thought, before Yamato's latest victim cigarette can get snapped he pulls that out of the other's hand too.]
When we get outside this one can be yours, but first, you need shoes from here!
[ Listen, he doesn't want Horikawa spending all his money? Though when his cigarette is taken from him, he stares up as if trying to figure out why he did that! ]
Alright, alright.
[ Of course, he sighs softly as he leans over to undo the clasps on the shoes that were chosen for him. It doesn't take that long for him to slip his foot into one of them and making sure the part around his ankle isn't too tight before he does the same with the other. Luckily for Horikawa, they are a good fit and maybe Yamato should have not judged too harshly but he didn't want to go this far for hunting.
Stretching out one of his legs to expose the stockings and the shoes that he's wearing, he wiggles his toes just a bit to make sure that he has room. ]
[There's a little bit of pride on Horikawa's expression, pleased that he was able to guess the right size for Yamato by eye alone as he tucks the cigarette back into his pack, but it's pretty lucky too. Watching as the shoes are slipped on and showed for him to see, he gives a nod, and then looks Yamato up and down in full, deciding on how the outfit feels as a whole. (The haori is a little out of place, but also important, so he doesn't count that.)
Overall... a good pick! He breaks out into a grin.]
It looks good, Yasusada-kun! They're not uncomfortable, are they? Because if not, we should be able to move on now.
[ Leaning back into his chair, he doesn't see what Horikawa finds so exciting about this. So what if he was able to guess the uchigatana's shoe size, weren't his original clothes much better? Though, there's something about his grin that's enough to make Yamato give his own back, praising him for a good job like so: ] They're not, the inside of them are soft and it doesn't hurt my feet any. I'm just a little worried about fighting in them. All in all.. they're fine.
[ Slowly getting to his feet and one can see how he has second thoughts, have to put all his weight into the shoes chosen and how he fixes the hem of the skirt that he wears. ] It's a new feeling to me, though. It's nothing like my wooden sandals but nothing I shouldn't be able to break into.
[ The clicking noise of a camera that's snapped their way at the exact moment when Yamato takes his first step — almost slipping and into Horikawa's arms he goes. ] I'll break into them. [ His small stumble. ]
[Yes! All in all, he can't help but feel like this little trip was a success. The clothes are all flattering and come together well on Yamato, but Horikawa doesn't feel like they'll be too difficult to care for, or get in the way of Yamato's fighting when it comes down to it. Most importantly, he doesn't think that they'll dent his wallet ー that's important. He's about to express as much, but Yamato seems much more set on testing out the clothes first, and before he realizes it he's got an uchigatana in his arms.
The look on his face is a little more sheepish than anything as he peers down, face surprisingly close to Yamato's.]
Harder than you expected? [It's kind of endearing, really.] You will. If you need any help with your balance, that's fine too.
[If he needs help that is. Holding hands for balance, that's totally normal, right? Just in case!]
[ Baby steps is all Yamato needs to take and knowing that Horikawa is willing to help him makes Yamato's vision downgrade from surprise. He didn't think that he would be so kind, even after this when Yamato can't even walk straight himself. Placing a hand on the other's chest as he pushes himself back onto his two legs and the close proximity of their faces widen, there's a smile and then a chuckle. ] How embarrassing.. I thought I could do a little better.
[ With his balance back on his footing, he looks towards the other in hopes to know what idea he has when it comes to figuring what they can do. Yamato has never had to wear flats and have so much trouble but it's the shape it sets his feet within the shoe and it's awkward. Perhaps it's his legs that are too nervous to cooperate with him, never has a samurai had shaky legs but.. ]
Well, I guess you're not used to those shoes after all. I don't think it will be hard for you after you adjust!
[The grin he returns is a bit apologetic, mostly for picking out something that would make his comrade so embarrassingly stumble, but there's nothing add about the proximity so far as he's concerned. As long as Yamato's managed to right himself, it's mostly just a good thing that he didn't topple into a shelf ー something that, knowing his track record, wasn't entirely off the table at the time. Still, across the slight distance that's been created, he offers up a hand to accompany his suggestion.]
Maybe if you had something to steady yourself on, like if we linked arms, or held hands.
[ It is, in fact, a question and also a choice he wouldn't have thought to take advantage of. First of all, it sounds silly that Yamato would need to link arms or hold hands just so that his balance wouldn't have him crashing down to the floor. He'd give a dismissive wave and state that he can do fine without, but as he takes another step and the way he teeters just a bit before standing in a certain way with legs crossed as he stares down at the ground. He can't just look at the floor the entire time he's out so with an outstretched hand and entwining his fingers with the others — he moves a little closer. ]
Then that — what you propose, doesn't sound bad at all.
[ Of course, he does continue to stare down as he tries to get himself together. ]
[Initially he's not so surprised at all when Yamato seems to be for ignoring such an offer; usually, he's a very capable sword, with a good handle on whatever he's doing. (Or otherwise, good enough.) On the other hand, even that first step just doesn't look like an ideal way for him to walk on his own, so when Yamato's hand meets with his, he's happy to hold it back and take his step to catch up to the other, then a tentative few more to see if Yamato will follow.]
Then, I'll do my best to make sure you won't fall, Yasusada-kun! Feel free to use me to balance.
[And, a nod in the direction of the cashier they're taking slow steps towards.]
We should pay, and get a bag for your other clothes, don't you think?
[ Using him so that he doesn't fall over, Yamato takes another step and whenever he feels uneasy he does give the other's hand a small but tight squeeze. It's already worrisome considering he doesn't want to damage any of Horikawa's webbing, guessing it may be easy to tear. He doesn't know how such thing parts of the body work there but their hands are quite different, aren't they? He does give that a look as he finally looks at the other's features with a smile. ]
Thank you, for this.. also, holding your hand will be fine, right? [ Indicating to Horikawa's webbing that he's always found himself touching and even now his fingers rub against the layer for just a moment. ] It's soft still. [ Each step that's done to get them closer to the cashier and there's a snap of his fingers by the use of his other hand. ] We should have carried my clothes with us.
[ Leaving them on that chair was a mistake. ] If you give me your money, I could pay and you could grab a bag and go back to get my hakama and such? [ Quickly added. ] After we get to the counter, of course! [ Do not let go of him! ]
It will be fine. It's not as delicate as you would think. [Nor are the fins that line behind his ears ー apparently for the thin translucence of these new additions is a bit deceptive in comparison to their durability. It's a bit of a relief, really, becoming the kind of monster that would tear if he caught in the wrong doorframe or picked something up carelessly seems only to be a drawback worse than what he already has to deal with. But in any case, Yamato's suggestion is agreeable enough, and Horikawa uses his free hand to pull out his wallet and flip through it.]
That sounds good! Ah, here, this should be enough, but make sure you count it. [It would be no good to waste money? And he's made sure that Yamato won't be short at all so... don't give away the extra!? He does his best to hide a chuckle at the last comment though.] I won't, I won't! Here, look, it's fine.
[The counter is right here, and Horikawa is already replacing the hand Yamato holds with some money as he turns.]
[ His suspicion on a rip and tear aren't something that can happen so easily which makes him feel at ease as he's replaced with the counter that he can latch on. The same person that showed them where is the dressing rooms were is manning the spot and seems to be watching the two on their little shopping escapade. It's not everyday someone slips money so willingly into another person's hands with care and bring them to the counter to pay for their own things.
As he takes his time trying to figure how much everything would cost, he pulls out a few of Ryslig's currency in order to hand over to the person waiting on him. He doesn't give exact change but he rounds off and it's enough to where he gets change back (if any, he doesn't know how this currency works), when it's safe to say that he's smooth sailing; he turns around to see that Horikawa is coming back. ] I did everything right, paid for what is needed.
[ A pause as he holds out what he has left. ] This is yours.
That's good! I got your clothes, too. [Holding up the neatly folded hakama and kimono for emphasis. After pocketing the money, he grabs a bag off the counter to place the spare clothes in as well, and it's only once he's managed to do all of that, that he offers his hand out for Yamato to take again. They've done a pretty good job so far, as far as he's concerned, though there's a bit more left yet.] We should go then, huh.
[He doesn't wait long for an answer before he begins to tug the other towards the exit. Hopefully that balance won't be so hard to hold onto with somebody else helping out for it. When they reach the door, he'll take a moment to make sure he holds it open for Yamato too. Seems like a bit of a pain to deal with otherwise, until he gets his balance.]
[ He does try to hold himself up with the counter as Horikawa pulls him alone, a quick step forward and holding tightly onto the other's hand so that he doesn't manage to fall. Looking at the bag in his hands, Yamato is willing to take it but when the door comes, oh the door, it stops his endeavors as he passes through and makes sure that Horikawa follows after when doing so. ] You have to let me pay you back for what you did, I don't have a job yet but.. soon.
[ Soon is all he can say for that, he has a thought of where he wants to work, he just has to make sure if it's applicable. While they're outside if another story where Yamato's legs are put to the test and many humans and monster alike are able to gander at his outfit. Not like many people are worried about him but probably wondering why the haori is worn on something like that but.. beggers can't be choosers. ]
It's fine. You haven't been here very long yet Yasusada-kun, and this will probably help out in some way or another. [LIKE HE THOUGHT PRIOR... he's making an investment on food in a way, considering how Yamato probably intends to use this. In any case though, the air is fresh and nice outside, so the sensible thing to do is obviously bring out the pack of cigarettes that he'd Narrowly saved from Yamato's clutches earlier. He talks while he digs though it.]
I was going to go suggest that we get what was requested of us, but it would probably be best to wait until you have your balance in those shoes. [With that, he holds out the smoke he'd earlier confiscated.] You were curious about them, right? Don't break it. Ah, but anyway, for now maybe we can just pass the time. I've heard there's a place with sweets nearby here.
You think so? It does seem like awhile until I'll be able to go back home. [ He loves his God, he does, but maybe the Fourth has many plans for how everyone will be going back. He hasn't seen Mami in awhile so maybe she achieved that goal? It's almost there, freedom, he can taste it. ] Don't say it's fine, I clearly owe you so I will pay you back. All in due time. [ A deep breath and he tries his best to grow accustomed to what he's wearing, feeling as if he's going to topple over, his ears twitch just a bit at the other's words. ]
Hm? You mean from.. Ticklebang, right? I cant really remember his name but.. [ It'll be fine, he doesn't know why getting a foot was ideal for his own vessel. ] I think it's the thought that count. [ Grabbing the one that was taken from him not too long ago, he's told not to break it but.. what does he do with it? ] Huh? I have to light this but with what, I don't have anything but isn't what's inside the important part?
[ Looks at the other when it comes to sweets, he's curious. ] It doesn't have... flesh in it does it.
Yeah, that's right! I'm not too fond of what we were asked for, but it shouldn't be hard to get something suitable like this, with your methods. If it turns out too difficult, I can sing, too. [Kou helped him improve a lot, after all! He seems happy to ignore the note on paying him back though, because if Yamato wants to do that then there's no problems on Horikawa's end. The next thing that grabs his notice is the comment on flesh, and there's a look of amusement on his features that's almost apologetic in all honesty. Hopefully Yamato won't have to worry about that for a long time, but for the time being:]
It's run by humans, so I don't think they have any interest in selling things like that. You probably don't need to worry about those kinds of things unless you go to a soup kitchen, because that's the only place I've heard of that does something like that. [Yes... Soup. Human soup. In any case, he motions for Yamato to hold the cigarette between his lips.] I'll light it for you, and then you breathe in. It's not hard!
My methods? [ Is that praise he didn't think he'd get, there's a smile and a small squeeze on the male's hand. Maybe Yamato is a little shocked, there's no reason to say something like that considering the fact that Horikawa has been here longer than Yamato and probably knows better methods. ] It's nice to know, you've got my back so we truly have nothing to worry about. Just a human leg and a human arm.. have you already gained everything else?
[ To know that it's ran by humans brings a smile to his face, monsters would be fine as well but he doesn't feel right.. eating a human. ] Huh.. is that so, have you been to a place like that? [ He does wonder as he looks at the other, tilting his head before giving his attention back to the cigarette. Raising his arm, he sets the stick between his lips for a moment before removing it. ] Should I remove this cover since.. what's inside is important, right?
I managed to find something I can use, but it was pretty troublesome. Hopefully, this works. [It would be such a pain (and probably leave a moral stain of some sort) if they were to go to all the trouble of collecting their human body pieces, toss them in the lake and whatever else is needed of them, and then find that it was all for naught. Honestly, to be honest, Horikawa's still a little bit salty about his method in general, but the value of his vessel returned to him far outweighs any reluctance he may have to get it by water.]
Hm? No, that would be pretty useless for me, Yasusada-kun. For someone like Tsurumaru-san or Mikazuki-san, it would probably be better. [He doesn't have to eat meat, so he doesn't plan on it. His method of feeding is already bad enough without adding the need for flesh, thanks. As for the question, he smiles, shaking his head.] No, it's supposed to be like that.
Is that so, it'll work out in the end and that's important I do believe. [ Yamato has a few of his own things but he can hardly remember what else it was he needed. He knows better that he should have paid attention but it's surreal to get something like their vessels back. ] We have different ways to go about it, if I recall, so when we collect everything. I do hope everything goes well on your end.
[ A pause as he looks at him, does Horikawa not eat meat? Yamato hasn't really paid attention to anyone's eating methods but his own. He brought back bodies but he never stayed long to see what or how they went about it. ] I thought everyone in that household ate the bodies.. well.. minus myself. I'm not that sure about Mikleo either. [ Giving his attention back to the cigarette. ] Huh...
That would be nice, huh! [Not that he doubts it, but he agrees! As far as he remembers Yamato telling him, it isn't as though they'll need to wait for a long time to find out either, since it seems like something they can perform together. (Tonight, with any luck.) Though he does look slightly shocked by Yamato's other suggestion.]
Not quite, Yasusada-kun. Everybody has something different than they need, but... I would probably trade what I have to do for something like that if I could. [Makes things a lot less difficult in regards to how he can pick his victims, and maybe he could wind up picking off only criminals the way the other Shinsengumi do. As it is he tries his best, but in desperate times if he worries for his hunger, there's not much room to be so choosy. His gaze flickers away for a moment, but he tilts his head, looking expectantly to Yamato's cigarette.] Well?
It would be. [ There's a smile on his features as he stares at the other, he's kind and warm about his words before looking down at his hands where the cigarette is. As he thinks about that and the eating habits within this house, he knows that today reminds him of a time where hes able to relax as well. He likes it which prompts his next sentence. ] We should do this more often. [ A beat. ] Going out like this. It's really fun.
[ Now, he press the cigarette between his lips making sure that it's unable to fall. ] Mmm? [ Not knowing if he should talk or not, he patiently waits for what's to come next, will it start a fire itself or will Horikawa make that happen so with directing the end the other's direction. ]

He brought back bodies but he never stayed long to see what or how they went about it. ] I thought everyone in that household ate the bodies.. well.. minus myself. I'm not that sure about Mikleo either. [ Giving his attention back to the cigarette. ] Huh...

His gaze flickers away for a moment, but he tilts his head, looking expectantly to Yamato's cigarette.] Well?

[ Now, he press the cigarette between his lips making sure that it's unable to fall. ] Mmm? [ Not knowing if he should talk or not, he patiently waits for what's to come next, will it start a fire itself or will Horikawa make that happen so with directing the end the other's direction. ]
